Amazing voyage is one of the most important events though out the year in LPC. We are having our THIRD Amazing voyage this year! As LPC is an international school, we would like to celebrate the uniqueness of LPC’s cultural and geographical diversity in an innovative way that is beneficial to all. This year we added Albania, Iraq, Yemen and Moldova in our AMAZING route!

What students have to do is record the distance that they have covered in exercise. All exercise recorded must relate to running, walking, cycling, swimming or kayaking. All of these rely solely on muscle power, and can be expressed in distance. The minimum distance that can be recorded is 100 metres. Students have to fill in the recording sheets (which are refreshed every cycle) in the respective dayrooms or the sheets on the gym walls.

From time to time, we will visit ALL 90 countries represented in the LPC community (including students, staff and families) with the recorded distance that we travelled in exercise! Everyone in LPC community takes part in this AMAZING event! In past two years there are about 375 students participated. Including this year, there will be 500 students plus 40 staff!

Ways to calculate the distance covered in exercise

  1. Swimming requires a lot more effort than running or cycling in order to cover a kilometre, so it was decided last year that swimming distances can be multiplied by 5 before you record them.
  2. Running or cycling on the road or in any other place where it is more difficult to estimate the exact distance covered, then use your common sense and record a ‘conservative’ distance on the sheets
  3. Distance from LPC to Ma On Shan Plaza or Sunshine Plaza is exactly 2 kms
  4. Distance from the LPC gate to the Principal’s residence roundabout and back, is exactly one kilometre

The Amazing voyage winners were staff (1st year) and Block 1 (last year). This year, we are looking forward to the final results! If every member of the community contributes 2 kms per day, then we will be back at LPC in time for the 2009 Graduation Ceremony !
