Li Po Chun United World College and the United World Colleges
Hong Kong National Committee are grateful to the funding support of The Hong
Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to provide educational opportunities for
young people in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club, founded in 1884 to organise all horse-racing
activities in Hong Kong, has been donating its surplus funds to community
and charitable projects since 1915. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities
Trust was established to oversee the distribution of the Jockey Club’s
separate funds for charities.
The Trust works in partnership with Government and non-profit-making agencies
to improve the quality of life of the Hong Kong people and to provide timely
support to those in need through donations in four main areas. These are
medical and health, community services, education and training, and sports,
recreation and culture. In addition, the Trust explores and develops projects
to meet the needs of the community.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has rendered generous
financial support to Li Po Chun United World College and the Hong Kong
National Committee to enable over 450 Young Hong Kong men and women to
attend United World Colleges in Hong Kong and overseas. This will help
nurture a group of responsible and compassionate citizens who are globally
aware, and who are committed to putting into practice the ideals of peace,
internationalism, justice and excellence in all things.
