The 24 Hour Drama Event takes place once or twice per school year. The purpose of the activity is to experience the whole process of theatre making in just 24 hours. Participants engage in a number of trust and theatre games and bonding exercises on the Friday evening of the event. They then remain sleeping in the drama room! On the Saturday a topic for presentation is finalized by the group and rehearsals and technical preparations take place throughout the day. On Saturday evening – exactly 24 hours after they began, the group perform their devised theatre piece to an invited audience! The activity is fun, offers a microcosm of the theatre process and is highly effective for group bonding and the development of self esteem in the individual. All students are welcome to participate, regardless of experience or whether they are using the event as an official activity!
