Art
for the Non-Artists
This activity
provides students who do not take Art as a subject with an opportunity
to learn more about Art. Basic concepts and fundamental skills will be
taught. The aim is to raise students’ interest and concerns of visual
art as an important part of culture. This also enables the students to
appreciate things from an artistic point of view.
Mural
Making
This is a
chance to make your mark around the school and to explore your creative
skills. Mural making involves working as a team to plan and develop some
Art works that will be displayed around the school. You don’t have
to have great skills in drawing and painting, but you do have to want
to make something, and to be willing to use the skills you do have. Work
will involve planning, cutting timber, sanding, painting, and most of
all working collaboratively.
Photography
You will
be taught how to use a single lens reflex camera, together with various
photo-taking techniques, and trained in the use of the darkroom - i.e.
how to develop and print black and white films. Your main aim is to build
a portfolio of photos and the term will culminate in a photographic display
for the college.
