Quan Cai > Coral Monitoring
Linda
Olson, Julie Harris

The coral community
at Hoi Ha Wan (a drowned river valley on the northeastern shores of
the New Territories) is under threat from a variety of sources: pollution,
dumping of sludge, fishing, coastal reclamation and damage from scuba
divers. Hoi Ha Wan has been designated a Marine Park and a WWF Marine
Studies Centre has been constructed there.
This project will involve you being trained as a diver and in marine
ID, then monitoring the coral communities at Hoi Ha Wan. It is a two-year
service, which occurs on the weekend and involves mandatory training
during Project Week.
