Quan Cai > First Aid Team

Niaml de Silva

The team consists of students who are qualified in first aid and their main duty is to be available to be of help to the other members of the community when initial help is needed before obtaining formal medical care.

They perform their duties under the guidance of Christine Chwa, the school nurse. The supervising teacher is Nimal de Silva.

The responsibilities of the team are given below.

Attending to House emergencies
There are qualified First aiders in every House, and those residing in each block will have the immediate responsibility of attending to emergency situations concerning injuries & sicknesses and thereafter taking action to bring it to the notice of the relevant authorities.
Extending the services outside residences
All first aiders will be prepared to assist anyone needing attention in the academic block, sports centre, sports fields etc.
Maintaining the first aid boxes in the Day Rooms
The first aiders in each House will take up the responsibility of maintaining the upkeep of the first aid box in the Day Room. They will also try to educate others as to the proper usage of the material in it and bring to the notice of the Nurse when it is time to be filled up.
Visits to the sick bay
The First aid team will prepare a rota system so that one person will be in charge daily to visit the sick bay around 9.00 pm to check whether the sick colleagues are in need of anything.
Help on Blood Donor Days
The First aid team will take up duties on a rotational basis to help the organizers on Blood Donor days.
