Quan Cai > WWF Marine Centre
Michele Morvan & Levi Gao
The coral community
at Hoi Ha Wan (a drowned river valley on the northeastern shores of
the New Territories) is under threat from a variety of sources: pollution,
dumping of sludge, fishing, coastal reclamation and damage from scuba
divers. Hoi Ha Wan has been designated a Marine Park and a WWF Marine
Studies Centre has been constructed there.
This project will involve you being trained in different activities
concerning marine life including identification, and first aid.
You will then teach
your newly acquired knowledge to Saturday visitors at the Marine Studies
Centre. The training will take place on Thursdays at LPC or Saturdays
at the Centre. You will be the pioneers of this two-year service.
