Initiative for Peace: Focus on Mindanao
Initiative For Peace is an organization that aims to promote peace in global, national and regional conflicts. The organization was founded in 2001 by the United World College of South East Asia, and in 2006 the Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong also organized its first conference. Since then, it has annually held conferences that bring youth from two sides in a conflict together to work on conflict management. The aim of those conferences is to create permanent youth-led conflict management organizations around the world.
This May 2010, a group of students from Li Po Chun United World College will hold their firth “Youth Initiative Conference”. The conference will focus on conflict management and resolution strategies, in the framework of the Mindanao conflict. The main objective of the program is to put the ideals of the United World Colleges, which focus on peace and international understanding, into action.
