Amaya Eva Coppens, who graduated from the College in 2014, was one of 12 extraordinary women from around the world who received the International Women of Courage Award from the U.S. Department of State last 4 March.

The award recognises her crucial role as one of the leaders of the 19th of April Student Movement in Nicaragua who also opposed “repressive tactics deployed by (the Nicaraguan government’s) security forces”.

We are proud of you, Amaya!
