24-Hour Race: LPC Runners Tackle The Peak

If you happened to be wandering around Hong Kong’s iconic Peak on the weekend of 29–30 November 2025, you probably spotted a familiar trail of bright smiles and tireless legs. A lively group of LPC’s fastest (and bravest!) took to the slopes for a 24-hour relay race around the 3.5km track that circles the summit. Through sunshine, silence, and everything in between, our runners—Caitlin, Marc, Adelaide, Andy W, Antonia, Bosco Z, Ford, George, James, Jamil, Jose, Kevin, Michelle Q, Naima, Yanny, and Xavier—kept the laps going non-stop. LPC had two student teams that weekend that pushed past their limits, finishing an outstanding 3rd and 6th overall!

For many, the race was more than just physical endurance. As one of the runners, James, reflected, it was "the most physically, mentally and socially demanding activity I have ever done (in a good way)" and truly a "one of a kind experience."

The toughest moments came in the quiet hours—for James, it was the lap after all the LPC supporters left, when the once-cheering track turned "dark" and "silent." For Caitlin, a leader for one of the running teams, the hardest stretch hit around 5:00 am, when exhaustion and injuries set in and runners were surviving on just "an hour or two of sleep." Yet when the sun rose over the harbour, spirits lifted, and the team found the strength to push through to the finish.

And what a team effort it was! Caitlin shared that her best memory was when "the bus full of LPC students arrived… cheering and holding posters," turning the course into a sea of familiar faces and giving everyone an extra boost of speed. Over 60 LPCUWC peers swarmed the Peak at 6:15 pm to show their love and support, joined by dedicated staff: Henry, Nicki, Hayley (who ran an amazing 21km!), Mark, Craig, Joyce Y, Cherry, and Spencer—and special thanks to Ruth for her late-night snacks. The Shoaf family kept everyone fuelled with giant pizzas, and the Soo family’s lemon teas were a crowd favourite.

Congratulations to all our runners for an unforgettable achievement—not just for the podium finishes, but for the resilience, teamwork, and joy they brought to every single lap!
