LPC’s Chinese Cultural Evening: A Celebration of Tradition and Talent

ree

This past Saturday, on 1 November, LPC hosted the first Cultural Evening of the school year, and what a way to begin! Over 100 guests, including parents, alumni, and friends, joined us on campus to celebrate the vibrant and rich Chinese culture.

The evening began with a traditional Chinese dinner, where our talented students stepped into the role of servers, delivering dishes to the tables. Both students and staff embraced the festive spirit, dressing in Chinese-inspired attire that filled the canteen with colour, elegance, and joy.

The night’s performances were centred around the Chinese Wuxing elements, Wood, Fire, Water, Earth, and Metal. The show opened with a lion dance performance, a long-standing LPC favourite, and connected each element with short pieces of drama and dialogue. The programme featured a vibrant mix of acts, including Chinese dance, drumming, a flag dance, a Cantonese pop singalong, a Pipa and Dizi trio, a fun Mandarin tongue twister, and The Three Character Classic performance featuring our LPC kids. The evening wrapped up with a double dragon dance that brought everyone together in celebration.

A huge thank you to the CCE student committee, all the dedicated teachers and staff members behind the scenes who made the evening such a resounding success.
