Sustainability is at the heart of LPC. This value came to life as our students joined forces with WWF Singapore and WWF Hong Kong for an immersive conservation day at the Mai Po Nature Reserve, on 27 November. This event was part of WWF Singapore’s Wetlands Immersion Programme, welcoming 12 young conservationists from Singapore for a week-long study trip.
After a quick ice-breaking session, the day began with boots on the ground—or rather, waders in the water . The group embarked on a hands-on field mission within a gei wai, working together to remove invasive sedges from the mangrove area to aid the habitat's delicate balance. This practical fieldwork provided a tangible connection to the ecosystem they are learning to protect.
Following the muddy and rewarding morning, the action shifted to the LPC campus, where the true spirit of exchange took centre stage. From coral monitoring and oyster restoration to citizen science surveys, our students shared their latest environmental projects. The WWF-Singapore students also presented their insights, creating a dynamic dialogue about regional conservation challenges and solutions.
A huge thank you to Ms Janice Chin, teacher of Environmental Systems and Societies, for organising such a meaningful exchange. This was more than just a day of activities; it was about making a real impact and fostering the next generation of planetary stewards.
