Creating the Waves of Change

What does it take to protect our oceans for future generations? Our Marine Science students are going the extra mile by joining the “Environment and Conservation Fund Exploring Marine Biodiversity: Empowering Youth Ambassadors for Ocean Stewardship” programme.

Last Saturday (31 January), Year 1 students, Ella and Dinara proudly represented LPCUWC at the programme’s opening ceremony, hosted by The University of Hong Kong’s The Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) and the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF). This unique initiative brings together 175 students from over 30 local and international schools to explore Hong Kong’s coastal ecosystems , learn biodiversity monitoring techniques, and develop the skills to advocate for ocean sustainability within their communities.

In August and September, the whole group will join immersive fieldwork weekends, gaining hands-on experience and deepening their understanding of marine science.

At LPC, our Marine Science IBDP course continues to inspire students through exciting science experiments both on and off campus, strengthening real-world learning and their connection to the natural world. Guided by our shared UWC mission to create a more peaceful and sustainable future, we are proud to see our students building a future of responsible ocean stewards and driving positive change.
