ECE 2025: A Fairytale Dream Come True

ree

Our European Cultural Evening concluded with tremendous success on 13 December, transforming our campus into a vibrant celebration of European culture and community spirit.

The week began with a series of engaging cultural teasers, where students enjoyed traditional dance demonstrations and delicious food tastings, building excitement for the main event.

The Evening kicked off with a special dinner in the canteen, where Committee members took on the roles of cooks and servers. The menu featured everything from signature kebabs and fish and chips to homemade desserts and cookies. Students added to the celebratory spirit by dressing up beautifully for the event.

The show, using a European fairytale as the theme, brought together a spectacular showcase of our students' performance talents. Featuring reimagined princesses, the stage came alive with dynamic drama and energetic dance performances, taking the audience on a storytelling journey where classic tales met cultural twists, with each act not only enjoyable but also interculturally enriching to watch.

The success of the evening was a true collective achievement. Sandy Carvalho, Teacher of English and Spanish and the programme's lead, expressed gratitude to the entire community.

She extended a special thank you to ECE representative Iman for her maturity and visionary leadership in guiding her peers. Heartfelt appreciation was also given to the regional representatives, the creative scriptwriters, and Misho for expertly overseeing the special dinner.

The dedication of the backstage and technical crews was also acknowledged, including the lighting and sound team led by Mr Neil Keating and Jes, and the backstage crew for their patience and crucial support. Thanks also went to May, the catering manager, and the Sodexo staff, whose openness and collaboration were instrumental in bringing the students' home recipes to life.

Ms Carvalho also thanked the entire cast and crew for making her eighth ECE so memorable. ‘While the performance was entertaining, I am most proud of the community spirit. To those who stepped up and jumped in to help when it was needed most, without seeking the spotlight: you were seen, and you are deeply appreciated.’

‘They say a good story brings people together, and this year’s ECE did just that. Thank you to everyone for reminding us that the most meaningful stories are the ones we create together,’ remarked Ms Carvalho.
