On December 1, 2024, Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPCUWC) proudly hosted a successful International Cultural Day, bringing together students and the local community, including Consul Representatives from six countries represented by some of our students at the College. This vibrant celebration highlighted the school’s commitment to cultural diversity and inclusivity, fostering global understanding and celebration of differences.
The event featured a variety of activities, including cultural booths, campus tours, and captivating performances like Lion Dance and African Drumming, showcasing the rich tapestry of cultures within the school community. The presence of the Consul Generals added an element of international diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural exchange and dialogue.
Visitors to the college immersed themselves in diverse cultural heritages through 30 student-hosted booths, each representing different regions, including East Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and North Africa, North America, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. These booths offered valuable insights into the customs, traditions, and cuisines of each region. UWC alumni living in Hong Kong further enriched the event by sharing information about the 17 other schools and colleges within the UWC Movement, illustrating the global impact of the UWC educational model.
The success of International Cultural Day was made possible by the dedication and hard work of students, alumni, and staff who contributed their time and understanding. Their collective efforts reflect the spirit of unity and cooperation that defines the LPCUWC community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in and supported International Cultural Day, helping to foster a more inclusive and interconnected world. Together, we celebrate the beauty of cultural diversity and the power of dialogue in building bridges across borders and promoting mutual respect and understanding in celebration of our differences.
